Not sure why people keep comparing Lotus Notes Domino with Outlook?!
Outlook is an email client and just that! And yes you can say it is brilliant at it - apart from the gazillion viruses aimed specifically at Outlook and Exchange.
The Lotus Notes Domino package however is a LOT more than just a vulnerable email client! Domino is an application web server and Notes client is the front end just like a browser can be!!
It happens to happen that the Notes client is also used to access your mail even though it is NOT "just an email client". Agreed that the user interface might not be as slick but it does the job and does it well.
Oh by the way - if you only need to access your mail then it might be an idea to configure your Outlook client to receive/send mail. Why waste money on licensing client software?
And if you are worried about viruses for Outlook why not just use the browser? That'll work too!
